Christchurch Central electorate

Christchurch Central covers the inner city, north to Redwood, and south to Sydenham and Beckenham. The seat is currently held by Labour's Duncan Webb, who won safely with a margin of 14,098. In 2020, Labour won the greatest share of party votes in Christchurch Central – 53% to National's 19%. Christchurch Central has been held by Labour MPs, including prime minister Geoffrey Palmer, since its creation in 1946, with the exception of 2011–2017.
