Mayor of Ashburton

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I believe we have problems with potential flooding risk that needs addressed. With changes to water management we need to be very good fiscally. Our roads are in need of upgrading.

About me

I bring strong leadership and sensibility to the role. My common sense approach has always made me a valuable member of any team. I am very forward thinking and plan well into the future.

My priorities
  1. Extract gravel from the Ashburton River to protect the town from flooding.
  2. Implement the water upgrades immediately with a loan from the local government authority.
  3. Plan a canal system to Lake Hood to clean the lake and introduce a punting tourism operation.
