Accept that the loss of the Three Waters reforms has adversely affected Buller but work with what is available.
Use council resources to support local business and maintain a transparent and fair procurement policy for all council spending.
Work through Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) to promote a bipartisan approach to infrastructure development at central government level.
Continue to work with Tourism NZ and West Coast Tourism to grow this important aspect of the economy.
Develop an up-to-date and fully functional emergency centre within Westport and ensure that suitable expertise is available.
Explore alternatives to the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs scheme to promote youth engagement and employment within the community.
Petition central government for a focus on making Westport more attractive for younger people to stay and others to return.
Provide strong direction for developing jobs for Westport’s future focusing on a more diverse approach to industry.
Ensure provisions to survive without tourism, as it will only take one major event to stop it.
Promote new and existing business interest in Buller by further developing with less cost to keep school leavers in the district.

Empower local organisations and volunteer groups to complete projects and activities in-house.
Improve the balance between council income (rates) and outgoings and reduce spending on outside consultants and contractors.
