Hastings District Council

Kahuranaki General Ward
The Hastings District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 15 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). one councillor will be elected from the Kahurānaki ward. There will be no election this year because there are the same number of candidates as there are positions.

I'm committed to honouring our rural values, respecting ratepayer money, and supporting a thriving, resilient future for our people and land. Hawke's Bay is an incredible place to live and raise a family, and I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and represent you with integrity, energy, and real-world perspective.

I'm a proud local, well‑grounded in the community, raising my family in the Kahuranaki Ward. Not a career politician, I understand the real challenges our region faces because I live them too. With proven experience in business, leadership, and community initiatives, I am personable, transparent, and dependable under pressure. I bring practical skills, collaborative thinking, and a "can-do" attitude to deliver balanced, future-focused decisions that reflect our community's values.

My priorities
  1. Allocate ratepayers' money wisely, with a focus on core services to keep the community thriving.
  2. Grow the local economy by backing primary industries and infrastructure to create jobs and growth.
  3. Protect fertile land and water by guiding growth to less productive areas to safeguard resources.
