Mayor of Queenstown-Lakes

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Queenstown-Lakes District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

Our district offers a great future, and that is my focus. The regional deal negotiators align with my vision; for locals to thrive, services are close, and opportunities are local.

About me

I am the only mayoral candidate who has local government experience. I am the current mayor. We need stability as we advance, particularly in the context of changes in CE, regional deal negotiations and addressing the current government's reform agenda. The district needs experience at the helm to guide us through what will be a high level of change at the council.

My priorities
  1. Successfully onboard a new chief executive.
  2. Successfully negotiate a regional deal with central government for the benefit of all.
  3. Successfully establish a water services council-controlled organisation.
