Why I'm standing
I am passionate about Taupō and want to advocate for capping rates at the cost of living and push back against government agendas. It needs to be affordable to live here or we will lose our community and people will go live somewhere else. I have been hearing this everywhere I go and through listening to people who have had enough of overcharging from rates.
About me
I am confident to do this as I already have 30 years of business administration and a background of council experience from my rural community board days with Hastings District Council. I enjoyed working with working group committees and other councillors and managers to improve rural roads, community halls and communication with the public over all issues.
My priorities
- Cap rates to enable young people, families and elderly to afford them.
- Educate people about waste disposal, water use and the dangers of chemical contamination here.
- Encourage the public to get more involved with council matters and see more transparency from Taupo District Council.
