Mayor of Waipā

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I am standing for re-election because I want our district to be a place where we all thrive. With experience, energy, and a lifelong connection with our community, I will continue to lead with purpose and integrity. That means financial prudence without burdening future generations, maintaining excellent services, and planning responsibly for growth. I want to finish the change I have started. I will continue to be a mayor for all of Waipā.

About me

As mayor, I know what this job demands. Waipā faces rising costs, rapid growth, and major reforms – I'm already across these issues. My background in business and law means I bring the skills we need. I've proven I can deliver change. I've built trusted relationships from grassroots to the Beehive – critical to securing Waipā's future. I'm a hardworking, strong strategic thinker with extensive governance experience committed to serving my community.

My priorities
  1. Reshape and right-size council so it is efficient, responsive to community and fit for the future.
  2. Strengthen and enhance the financial control model so better strategic financial decisions can be made.
  3. Strengthen and utilise relationships regionally and nationally for the benefit of the district.
