Why I'm standing
I am worried about the country's direction, away from climate action and local decision-making to a centralised command-and-control model that is backwards-looking and ignores people's wellbeing. I believe local government should support economic, environmental, cultural and social wellbeing and that we should do more, not less, to provide housing, prepare for the future, broaden engagement and support everyone to have a good quality of life. And I want to play a role in that.
About me
Six years' experience on the local board, including as deputy chair, means I know how council works and can get good projects delivered. My background as an editor and researcher of cities (and play) enables me to combine a critical lens with positive and constructive direction. I have built relationships inside and outside of council and am active as a theatre-maker, parent trustee on school boards, environmental volunteer, author and campaigner for all-age-friendly, sustainable cities.
My priorities
- Encourage good urban design to deliver a climate-resilient city with trees, greenspace and birdsong.
- Keep and enhance facilities, including pools, libraries, sports and art spaces, to foster community wellbeing.
- Deliver a safe and vibrant city to encourage economic activity while supporting people who need help.
