Mayor of Westland

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Westland District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I'm standing again because Westland needs steady, balanced leadership that delivers. Over the past three years, I've focused on getting Council's house in order, strengthening finances, and refocusing on core services. We've secured major government investment and improved decision-making for our communities. There's more to do, making rates fair, strengthening resilience, and protecting Westland's voice. I'm seeking re-election to keep that momentum, with practical leadership, financial discipline, and transparent governance.

About me

I understand both the challenges and opportunities our district faces. With a background in business and community leadership, I've worked alongside people in farming, tourism, small business, and community groups. As Mayor, I've led Council through significant change, securing funding for major projects, improving accountability, and strengthened relationships with government. I'm not afraid to make difficult decisions, grounded in fairness and transparency. I'm seeking re-election to maintain momentum and ensure Westland moves forward with confidence.

My priorities
  1. Balance rates by focusing on essentials and using other funding to ease the load on ratepayers.
  2. Protect our say in decisions about water infrastructure and growth.
  3. Focus in partnership on community, value and delivery and represent every community across Westland.
