The Hawke's Bay Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 11 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). three councillors will be elected from the Heretaunga/Hastings constituency.     Maintain pollution monitoring, response and enforcement for land, air, water and sea.

  • Reduce pollution through stronger monitoring, rapid incident response and consistent enforcement to safeguard the environment and waterways.

    Restore native habitats and wetlands to boost biodiversity, protect wildlife and strengthen the region's natural climate resilience.

    Work with mana whenua and the wider community to protect taonga, wāhi tapu and culturally significant landscapes across Hawke's Bay.
