Otamatea Ward
The Kaipara District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). two councillors will be elected from the Otamatea ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Promote youth employment through partnerships with schools, trades and employers to create apprenticeships and work experience programmes.

    Upgrade digital infrastructure and connectivity to enable remote work, online business and access to education and services.

  • Encourage increased use of local contractors and businesses for paid council work.

    Support planning allowing businesses to grow and increase employment.

    Encourage businesses and council to offer training opportunities to local youth for increased local employment options.

  • Form a non-profit volunteer board within council to expose central government rules that hurt communities and inform voters.

    Form a committee of retired accountants and give them read-only access to all council books to publish a monthly report.
