Why I'm standing

I'm Kishan Raikwar, and I'm standing for Thames Ward Councillor. Currently a Thames Community Board member, working alongside residents, businesses, and community groups. I've seen the challenges we face, but I've also seen the incredible spirit and potential of this community. That's why I'm putting my hand up—to keep pushing for projects that reflect our shared dreams for the future. I will listen, I will act, and I will represent you with honesty and dedication.

About me

My story is one of hard work and perseverance. I started in hospitality at just 13 years old as a kitchen hand and worked my way up to becoming a restaurant owner here in Thames. That journey taught me that success comes from dedication, resilience, and understanding every step along the way. That's the approach I'll bring to Council—starting from the ground up, listening to people, and building solutions together.

My priorities
  1. Advocate for housing projects, invest in community wellbeing and invest ratespayer funds wisely.
  2. Upgrade infrastructure, including safer roads, reliable Three Waters systems and smart long-term investments.
  3. Support local businesses and community events to grow the economy and create jobs for everyone.
