Thames-Coromandel District Council

Thames General Ward
The Thames-Coromandel District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of ten councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). one councillor will be elected from the Thames ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

My motivation for re-standing for councillor for the Thames ward is purely around my local community. I have been privileged to be involved in a number of areas of the Thames community, and I want to be able to continue to give a voice to them at council level. The last 3 years have been an enormous challenge but also hugely rewarding and I have so much more to offer.

About me

I moved to Thames in 1992 and so I can now almost consider myself a local! Over the years I have been involved with a number of groups at a governance level and when I stood 3 years ago I wanted the opportunity to use this experience for the wider TCDC community. Having been a councillor for 6 years now I feel that I now have valuable experience to keep advocating for my community.

My priorities
  1. Increase the engagement of the local community in decision-making that affects them.
  2. Address housing availability for working families as a huge issue that TCDC needs to urgently resolve.
  3. Make the unique and historic town of Thames into a more accessible and vibrant community for all.
