Why I'm standing
I am running for BOPRC to be in a governance role where I can make a difference by listening, reading, considering all points of view and then providing decisive decision making and leadership. I would like to make Tauranga and BOP the most desirable place to live, work and play in New Zealand. I believe congestion is our biggest challenge and we need to plan for a bold visionary multimodal transport network for the future.
About me
I am a registered architect with 30 years experience, 18 years as managing director of Design Engine Architects, and a member of Institute of Directors. I have previous governance roles on Tauranga Art Gallery Trust, Maungatapu School Board and Hamilton River Plan Group. Architect skills require good listening, lots of reading, coming up with innovative solutions, and communication with councils, engineers, builders, clients and other stakeholders. I am dedicated, passionate, hardworking and very determined. Core principles are honesty, uprightness and integrity.
My priorities
- Plan and introduce a multimodal transport network with smaller buses, rail and electric ferries.
- Plan for a Skyway to Port direct truck freight overhead route that separates port traffic.
- Enable aquaculture in estuaries and coastlines for local food production and export markets.
