Why I'm standing
I am a passionate local voice in local government and have been deeply disturbed by the growing centralisation of council and local activities. I will strongly advocate for putting the 'local' back into local government through the upcoming reforms.
About me
I have been privileged to be a councillor on a small community council before 1989, a city councillor, a mayor, a regional councillor, a director on a council-controlled organisation (CCO) and a business owner. I believe that history has given me the skill sets to face the next three years well equipped to add value to the decision-making process.
My priorities
- Maximise the opportunity relating to the government’s reform programme for good outcomes.
- Take a sustainable approach to growth management to provide homes that meet everyone's needs.
- Fight hard for local voice and democracy which are under severe threat.
