Now, more than ever, Dunedin needs strong and effective leadership if it is to achieve its true potential as a great small city. Dunedin is growing at half the rate of the NZ average when it has the assets to be growing and thriving at twice the national rate. The opportunity to build a better city for children and grandchildren is now, not in another three years' time.
My experience is not as a career politician, but has been gained in the real world. Mine was a working-class upbringing in Dunedin. I started with nothing and built one of New Zealand's largest motor companies which today employs 350 people. This was only possible by building a team around me, having a clear vision and working every hour to deliver. That is what I now bring to the Dunedin City Council.
