Tasman District Council

Golden Bay General Ward
The Tasman District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). two councillors will be elected from the Golden Bay ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Continue supporting the Tākaka–Collingwood Trail as a corridor for safe biking, walking and exercising dogs.

    Support the exhibition centre for the Anaweka Waka as it will be a national taonga and a visitor magnet.

    Use common sense for the Tākaka Village Green and respect that the community gifted the land to council for safekeeping without more bureaucracy.

  • Upgrade local parks with native plantings to boost community wellbeing while keeping costs within debt limits by 2026.

    Support community festivals using low-carbon infrastructure and volunteer programmes to reduce council spending by 2026.

    Renovate pools and halls prioritising energy efficiency to lower long-term rates and environmental impact by 2027.
